What Makes Us Different

The Junior Knights program was founded by current and former players, and parents associated with the Northridge High School Basketball Program, which has a long-standing tradition of success. The Northridge High School basketball program has built a reputation for excellence through its commitment to discipline, teamwork, skill development, and, most importantly, character building. The Junior Knights proudly carry forward these values. Although this feeder program was inspired by the values and standards of the Northridge High School Basketball Program, it is not run by Northridge or its athletic department.

While many travel basketball programs prioritize playing as many games as possible, we take a different approach. We believe that a basketball player's true development happens on the practice court. Our focus is on building skills through practice, not just playing games. We prioritize teaching the fundamentals of basketball and developing real skills to ensure that each player becomes more confident with every practice.

Our program is built on the philosophy that a teacher of the game brings a better perspective to the court. Our coaches aren’t just coaches—they are educators. They understand the developmental process and how to teach young athletes not only to understand the game but to master it. From basics to advanced strategies, our coaches ensure that each player is prepared for the decisions on a basketball court.

However, it’s not just about basketball skills. Character development is truly at the heart of what we do—on and off the court. Through basketball, we instill lifelong values that last far beyond the game such as commitment, teamwork, loyalty, leadership, sportsmanship, and respect. Our approach embraces the journey, knowing that success in life will follow when you do things the right way, the Knights way. See our FAQs for details.
